At the Commandeursmolen, Corporate Social Responsibility (or M.V.O in Dutch) is considered of paramount importance. Our principles are regional purchase of raw materials (mainly organic) which reduces environmental damage, and if possible working with return freight. In addition, for the constant renewal and optimisation of the mill, we use environmentally friendly building materials as much as possible, including paint, mortar, plaster and isolation materials.

Use of energy is crucial as well. In addition to effective lighting and the limitation of heating to the cafeteria and the office we work with variable propulsion of equipment with a high efficiency factor as much as possible. Last but not least, the mill has its own hydro-electric power station, producing “green” Electricity 24/7 (enough for 50 households).
