Need an extra hand?

Leo Weerts is from Mechelen and likes cycling, running, car racing, motorcycle racing and skiing. He studied personnel management at Higher Vocational Education level. He started working in the mill on Saturdays and school holidays and now helps out several days a week. “As an all round staff member, “he explains. “I do all kinds of work, and if they need an extra hand I also help with production. The thing I like most about the Commandeursmolen is working with great colleagues, as well as the serious yet informal ambiance. The Commandeursmolen is famous for its quality products. I’m proud to be working here.”

Man of Steel

The centuries-old Commandeursmolen is being fitted out for a long future. This involves quite a bit of maintenance, renovation and innovation, such as devising and realising solutions for technical building and installation problems as well as solid steel constructions. These are the challenges facing Ernest Franssen (three children; living in Reijmerstok). “I often visit the Commandeursmolen, and with great pleasure. It entails a huge variety in tasks, the work is demanding and the ambiance is great. It is a very professional and flexible company prepared in every detail to supply customers with an honest product.”

'The logic of organic'

“We are specialised in organic products. I completely support the logic of organic production, and it is great to make a product people appreciate because of its quality and authenticity.” This is a quote from Peter Faber: miller, living in Einighausen, married with two children. In his spare time he puts his family first, but he also enjoys riding his motorcycle, watching movies and spending time on his computer. What are some of the things a miller does? “Milling, blending, filling bags, loading and a lot more. Fascinating work. And I also enjoy interacting with co-workers, customers and transporters.”

Interesting projects

When he was younger, André Reefs wanted to be a pilot. That never happened. But he certainly turned out to be a high flyer in the mill. “The work we do is varied and challenging, and we have very high standards for hygiene, order and tidiness,” André says. He is a member of the miller’s guild in the Commandeursmolen. André comes from Vaals (partner; child; hobbies: work and computer) and also points out the numerous projects in the mill. “Interesting. We have set up a new cracking and grinding mill rollers to make different kinds of grains, flakes and cracked products.”
